Britney Spears is NOT Cajun
Malcontent.biz has a headline that reads “Britney’s Cajun Cry-Out.” I’m sure they put that there just because she was raised in Louisiana but for Pete’s sake, she raised in Kentwood which is a town on the Southeastern border of Louisiana. Not everything born/raised in or touched by Louisiana is Cajun.
Internet bios state that Spears was born in McComb, Mississippi and raised in Kentwood, Louisiana. Her family background includes the surnames Bridges, Woolmoore, Spears and Forbes — names with Scottish and English roots. Britney, so far as I can tell, has not claimed any Acadian ancestry — the only heritage she has claimed publicly so far is that of Native American ancestry.

My wifes got an Uncle over in Washington Parish who hunts with some of her kin, and he says they dont want to claim her either.
I remember a few years ago, Brett Favre tried to pass himself off as Cajun in an interview. I wasn’t aware that Kiln, Mississippi was a Cajun oasis! Then again, if Britney (who is from an area very close to Kiln) can claim the ancestry…
NO, that is not right. Bridges, Woolmoore, Spears and Forbes… all them names are irish, im irish i would know my surename is spears aswell. so yeah and there is alot of irish in american so i claim that she is irish her son iss called sean and that is a gaelic name! x.
Oh and the catholic school girls uniform in the `hit me baby one more time video` english is not catholic…. irish is and american is mormon so yeah u nooo.
Bridget: Actually, in researching the web, it seems that it’s half Scottish, half English.
forbes and spears appear to be of Scottish descent and bridges and
woolmore are of English descent though that doesn’t imply that your particular family isn’t from Ireland.
One thing we can all agree on is that the names aren’t of French/Acadian and thus Cajun descent.
The uniform she’s wearing in the video has nothing to do with her ancestry and all to do with America’s sad preoccupation with school girls in uniforms. In addition, only about 5.8 million Americans are Mormon. That’s only about 2% of Christians. Protestants make up 53% of Christians in America and Catholics make up 23% as of February 2002.
But i have met her, she told me that she is irish…
she looks cajun, and there are people named spears. yes.
