Buras Water Tower Collapse
I noticed that a few people found my site by searching for phrases similar to "Katrina water tower collapse." My blog came up because I talked about the water tower collapse in Hurricane Audrey years ago so it made me wonder there was yet another water tower collapse. I was sent a PowerPoint presentation of Plaquemines Parish (Plaquemines is an native american word for persimmon) tonight that shows scenes from the area after the Hurricane and sure enough, there were amazing pictures of the Buras water tower which had collapsed.

If you’d like to see the rest of these amazing images of aftermath in Plaquemines Parish, you can click here for the Powerpoint Presentation.

Hi maw-maw and dem,Our neighbors here in Taos, New Mexico, were among the first responders to Plaquemines Parish. We are following the story at taosblog.com. We have 50 homefolk among the New Mexico National Guard stationed in Belle Chasse at this time. I linked this post here.Sarah
Hi there. Stumbled across these Plaquemines pictures and wanted to thank you for making them available. I live in Montana but I was working in Plaquemines in September as a mental health volunteer. What I saw there still haunts me, but the memory of the amazing people I spoke with is just inspiring. I’m coming back to NO to run the Mardis Gras marathon on Feb. 5th, and I’m anxious to return to Plaquemines to see what’s happened since September. Plaquemines has been lost in the media coverage, and I worry that the parish won’t get the resources it needs to recover. Thanks also to the New Mexico National Guard. I worked with those guys a lot while I was there and they were great. Best wishes to everyone from Plaquemines.
Hi, I was playing around on the internet when I stumbled across your website. I thought you guys might be inerested to know that we have a brand new water tower. Yes thats right, its been three years since the storm and we just got it. But dont worry we are recovering surely but slowly. The new water tower has become a symbol of hope for us. As you know the eye of the storm passed over our heads. I think that for a long time we all waited for life to return to normal here and then we realized we had to make a new normal. Lower Plaquemines Parish is my home, I couldn’t imagine being happy any where else. Thanks to everyone with well wishes and prayers. I think if you know us you will agree that we are some of the best people on Earth.
